When Jeff Pulver filed the Free World Dialup Petition at the FCC on February 5, 2003, Jeff had no idea a year later his petition would become known as “The Pulver Order.”  The passage of this order removed regulatory uncertainties and opened the door for more capital to enter the market, more jobs to be created and many new innovative services and products to follow.

The 20th anniversary of The Pulver Ordermarks a pivotal moment in the history of digital communication, as it drove the widespread adoption of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The Pulver Order was a landmark decision and significantly influenced how we communicate over the internet.

The passing of The Pulver Order was the catalyst which transformed telecom companies like Verizon to become data companies.

The historical significance of the Pulver Order lies in its role in fostering technological advancement and economic growth in the field of internet communications.

By reducing regulatory barriers, it allowed for the rapid expansion and enhancement of VoIP technologies.

This, in turn, led to the development of various applications we now use daily, such as: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and WebEx.

These platforms have revolutionized the way we communicate, both in personal and professional contexts, making global communication more accessible and cost-effective.
